Meet Your Guides

This is Ralph, your kodiak river fishing guide! This is from one of our trips out to remote Saltery Creek, via side by side, to catch some fish!

Ralph Aguero

A little bit about me, I grew up in a small town in Northwest Indiana, where I spent my days fishing, camping and swimming on Lake Michigan with the Boy Scouts of America.
I am a 18-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard. I have been stationed in Kodiak, Alaska as a Helicopter Rescue Swimmer for a little over 11 years, and have come to call this wonderful state home. I have flown on H-60 helicopters around many different parts of Alaska, executing countless search and rescue missions from the far west Aleutians, the North Slope, Cold Bay, St. Paul, and Cordova, assisting Alaskans and mariners in distress.
In my spare time, I spend my days, hunting, fishing and hiking around Kodiak, utilizing my side by side to get out to some of the more remote areas around the island. I have since become an expert in fishing for Sockeye (reds) and Coho (silvers) on Saltery Creek and road system rivers. I absolutely look forward to sharing my passion with my clients.
I am a registered fishing guide with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. I have also received a business license through the Alaska Department of Commerce and am fully insured to take anglers like you out fishing and sightseeing.
I am eternally grateful for your time and business, and look forward to being your Kodiak River Runners Guide.

A little bit about me: I have been coming to Kodiak every year for the past 4 years now! Me and my wife Meg got married in January of this year, and thankfully she wanted to come to Kodiak too! This 2024 season will be my 2nd season with Kodiak River Runners.

I was born and raised mostly in Haiti, once my family moved stateside. I soon fell in love with hunting and fishing mostly because it brought solitude to my life. Out in the field, on the stream or on a mountain… that’s where I feel closest to God. That’s why I have such an obsession to get outside!

One of my favorite things about guiding last season was meeting new people and helping folks make memories of a lifetime. I especially enjoy learning from others and getting to know new people from all different walks of life. When I am out there guiding, I often feel like I’m fishing with friends rather than clients.

I have a passion for Saltery creek specifically because of the vast landscape and uncut nature.

I live and breath hunting and fishing, out of all the things I have done or wish to do, nothing will ever compare to the thrill of a fresh salmon at the end of your fly rod, backed by the beauty of Saltery.

A little bit about me: I am 20 years old and grew up in the big city of Seattle, Washington, which is situated in the upper corner of the Pacific Northwest. Throughout my childhood, I would often fish for trout and salmon all over the Puget Sound and various lakes across the state of Washington. My love for the outdoors and nature has always drawn me to the breathtaking beauty and scenery that Alaska has to offer.
One of my favorite pastimes is fishing during my free time, and I thoroughly enjoy taking people out to witness the stunning landscape and experience the incredible fishing opportunities that Kodiak has to offer.
While this marks my first year as a guide for Kodiak River Runners, I am well-acquainted with the area, having worked at Saltery Cove for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, where my responsibilities involved counting sockeye and silvers.
I look forward to guiding you on your next Kodiak fishing adventure.
